Impact Statement
Competitive gymnastics allows young athletes the opportunity to gain physical, mental, and emotional strength through rigorous, disciplined workouts and friendly competition.  The LWR Gymnastics parents club is dedicated to making it possible for athletes at Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics to participate in USAG sanctioned competitions, and to become well-rounded individuals.
Over the last year, we have:
1. Raised over $22,000 to help support the competitive athletes at Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics.
2. Entered over 150 gymnasts into local and international competitions.
3. Provided 3 programs to support community service, including candy grams for F.E.L.T, canned food drive for a local food bank, and collecting shoes for children in Ghana.

Next year, we hope to:
1. Increase our fundraising to raise more that $30,000.
2. Enter the competitive gymnasts at Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics into scheduled and supported USAG competitions.
3. Provide at least 4 community service opportunities.
Needs Statement
Our fundraising efforts go to support:
1. Compulsory Athletes - $50,000
2. Optional Athletes - $85,000
3. XCEL Athletes - $30,000
4. Elite Athletes - $5,000
5. Administrative Costs - $7,000
Background Statement
The LWR Gymnastics Parents Club began in 2013 to meet the needs of the growing competitive program at Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics.  The parents of the competitive gymnasts found the increasing costs of the sport made it difficult for some families to afford.  It complies with NCAA rules and guidelines and has the ability to fundraise to lower costs of competing.  As the organization took shape, the new board realized they had the opportunity to not only support the gymnastics program, but also to organize community service opportunities for the athletes.  Over the past few years, we have seen the Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics athletes win multiple state, regional, and national titles, grow from under 50 competitive athletes to over 150 athletes, and seen our gymnasts perform countless community service hours.

Statement from the Board Chair/Board President
I am grateful to be a member of the LWR Gymnastics Parents Club board.  My daughter, Sasha, began her gymnastics career as a shy 6 year old who loved to jump, play, and especially climb.  We enrolled her in gymnastics classes on her 6th birthday and she had an instant love of the sport.  I was not a competitive athlete as a child, so I never knew the extent of the value of competitive sports.  I saw the value of this sport at Sasha's level 4 state meet.  Beam was the last event of the day and Sasha was the last gymnast to compete.  She was having a very good meet so far, and the pressure of the situation was mounting.  As she stepped up to the beam to begin her routine, she was overcome with emotions and began to cry.  Her coaches quickly stepped in to tell her she needed to fight her anxiety and just do what they knew she could do.  Through tear-stained cheeks, Sasha saluted the judges and began her routine.  She ended her routine and scored an impressive 9.700.  I learned at that moment that my baby girl could do anything in life for which she works hard; and Sasha learned it as well.  Many times people ask me why we sacrifice so much to have Sasha in this sport; I tell them her story.

I have been serving on the board for approximately a year, and I see the impact that the Parents Club has on athletes who would not be able to compete without financial assistance.   As much as the Parents Club is able to do, there remain challenges that need to be addressed.  Community support is necessary for the success of the Parents Club.  We need more community involvement and participation to fully realize the impact we can have.  By having sponsorship drives, community support programs, and fundraising events, the members of the LWR Gymnastics Parents Club reach out for support from community members.  As we grow as a non-profit, we hope to make competitive gymnastics more accessible for all athletes, enabling them to gain the confidence and determination that Sasha displayed at her state meet.

Programs
Description
Each Valentine's Day, the members of the LWR Gymnastics Parents Club organize a candy drive to both fundraise for our causes, and to collect donations for the local Feeding Empty Little Tummy organization.  For every two grams sold, a third was donated to F.E.L.T.  Parents of Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics competitive team members collect, package, and distribute the candy grams to individuals, and partner with the people at F.E.L.T. to distribute the candy grams to the children benefitted by their program.

Short Term Success To provide enjoyment for underprivileged children in our community.  We have collected and donated over 200 candy grams to local children in need.
Long Term Success Our goal is to focus our future fundraisers to not only benefit our specific efforts, but to also improve the efforts of other non-profits in the Lakewood Ranch area.  Through this program, we have been able to cultivate a relationship with the F.E.L.T. directors, as well as open new opportunities to help other programs in our area.  We plan to continue this donation program for years to come.
Program Success Monitoring All philanthropy is recorded by our philanthropy chair, in charge solely of our philanthropy efforts.  She tracks the success of our program by accurate notes and spreadsheets, along with communicating directly with the program we are helping.
Program Success Examples After collecting the donations, we were able to take the candy grams to the local F.E.L.T.  Over the past couple years, we have been able to increase our donations.  Because our gymnasts are young, this has allowed each girl to create a life-long appreciation for the impact of their philanthropy efforts on the lives of others.
