Background Statement

Truly Valued, Inc. (formerly I Am More, Inc.) was established in 2014 by a small group of volunteers as a community based outreach event called Tea Party 4 Girls serving 30 girls. Chartered as a 501 (c)(3) organization in 2016, Truly Valued expanded its operational reach by serving up to 130 girls and establishing formal mentoring, educational and career exploration programming for adolescent girls in Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

Truly Valued recognizes that without positive guidance and encouragement, young women have a much higher likelihood of perpetuating the cycle of despair and poverty in which many of them grow up. We seek to end that cycle and, through in-depth intervention by caring and committed volunteers, send these girls into the adult world prepared to live fulfilling, impactful lives and to pass this legacy on to future generations.

Statement from the Board Chair/Board President

Identifying that adolescent girls are at a greater risk of anxiety, depression and engagement in risky behaviors such as promiscuity, drug abuse or violence, Truly Valued exists to provide the tools and support for girls to be confident in knowing who they are and the understanding that they do not have to feel pressured by society’s perceptions regarding appearance or economic status.

Priceless Girls Mentoring Program is designed to help cultivate the skills that adolescent girls need to develop as successful adults with a strong sense of their own identity. The innovative, group-style mentoring program empowers through direct instruction, experiential learning, as well as trust and team building activities designed to improve confidence and respect for others.

The program focuses on exposing the girls to a variety of things via hands-on activities focused on the arts, etiquette, communication, health and wellness, career exploration, academics and community service. This program provides a high quality system of support for young ladies and provide tools to encourage positive decision making.

We like to take our youth to various events to encourage social development. These events and activities encourage interpersonal relationships as they socialize with peers and realize how much they actually have in common.

Trianna (12) never thought that she would zip lining during the summer. Trianna expressed that this was the best summer she has ever had being involved in the program.

Truly Valued has created a series of events designed to bring youth together from diverse backgrounds and fostering an environment of learning and explorational growth while cultivating positive relationships and community service.

One-Sack Give Back

Truly Valued will provide a bag of supplemental school supplies to low-income children within Sarasota and Manatee Counties. These supplies will aid youth with the 2nd semester of the school year. “99% of educators…report that second semester is just as important as the back to school time-frame in terms of student preparation. Without the necessary supplies, students may not be able to complete assignments which could lead to lower grades and test scores.”

Tea Party 4 Girls

Truly Valued welcomes adolescent girls, parents and professionals to the Annual Tea Party 4 Girls event. These events are designed to empower our youth through conversations with professional women who live and work in their own community. They share their experience and expertise, bringing a wealth of knowledge from backgrounds in law enforcement, politics, entrepreneurship, arts and entertainment. This year, we have challenged ourselves to make a positive difference by exposing youth to art through fashion.

Summer Enrichment

Truly Valued provides an opportunity for at risk youth to experience the great outdoors. Summer Enrichment provides a safe environment for them to gain self-confidence as they learn new skills such as problem solving and interpersonal skills. Camp is also a place where youth develop a variety of social skills (i.e. communication, conflict resolution). Activities include workshops in character building, self-awareness, team building and evaluation, while incorporating daily physical activities such as horseback riding, high ropes course, and archery.
