Statement from the Board Chair/Board President
Upon learning what great effort and compassion for children that CEF has, I was so impressed that I had to look deeper into the organization. There I discovered that their ultimate intent is to bring young children to Christ. The youth is our future and I am convinced that CEF is dedicated to enhancing that future through youthful Christians.
Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
As the Executive Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Manatee/Sarasota County. I have had the privilege of seeing what an impact the Good News Club makes on the children who attend the free club. I have seen many misdirected children become directed with a purpose and meaning for their lives. It makes a huge change in their behavior and attitude. Knowing that we have a precious opportunity to tell children that they are loved by their Creator, who was willing to send His perfect son to die and rise again for their sins is incredible. There are no words to describe how showing up week after week to be a loving a consistent role model in the life of a child impacts our volunteers as well as the children. I think this verse best sums it up, John 1:4 "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth."
Description Good News Club, a weekly club during the school year, is more popular than ever following the Supreme Court victory allowing Good News Club to take place in public schools across America. Our summer 5-Day Club outreach takes place over the course of a five day period, offering a unique opportunity for children to interact with teenagers who receive training in the Christian Youth In Action program.

Short Term Success Our goal for the coming school year is to train more volunteers and have a greater number of Good News Clubs. The more clubs that we can provide, the more students we are able to reach and make an impact on their lives. This year 80% of the volunteers taking the Teaching Children Effectively 1, are on their way to completing their certification. This will allow us to have more clubs as this 30 hour course is needed for teaching in a Good News Club.
Long Term Success In our local area, we have tripled in number of clubs we have provided and are reaching more children because of this growth. Principals in Manatee county have given a glowing review of how they have seen a change in some of their students behavior because of the influence having a Good News Club brings into the life of the students. More can be viewed on our youtube video.
Program Success Monitoring We have a tracking system through cefonline. com for USA CEF Ministries. Statistics are updated every month. Each chapter (local area) is responsible to report students who are counceled, children that are reached in the club, how many volunteers receive training, etc..
Program Success Examples Faith's Story Lillian was about 7 years old when she was invited by neighbors to go to a Child Evangelism Fellowship® camp. Her parents gave their permission for her to go along with the neighbor children. Lillian heard the message of salvation for the first time at that camp and trusted Christ as her Savior. She was asked to share her testimony at the camp’s closing program. Lillian’s father’s response to the testimony was, “They’ve brainwashed my little girl! But I’ll straighten her out when we get home.” Her mother thought what Lillian shared was “the silliest thing” she’d ever heard in her life. That was the environment Lillian was returning to. But the Lord was with her! Lillian’s parents noticed a change in Lillian and realized that her decision was real. They began to search for answers to their spiritual questions. The Lord directed them to an evangelist who was able to introduce them to Christ! The very next year, Lillian’s parents were working as volunteers at the camp where Lillian met Christ! They attended training classes taught by CEF® workers and shared what they learned with Lillian’s younger brother and sister. A fourth child was born into the family. They named her Faith—identifying the change that God had brought to their family. Faith trusted Christ as Savior before the age of three. She now serves full-time with Child Evangelism Fellowship in the Greater NYC area and teaches at the Children’s Ministries Institute® in Warrenton, Missouri.
Program Comments by Organization The greatest challenge and opportunities facing our organization is, there are many schools that would like to have a free Good News Club. We need the finances and more trained volunteers.

Experience I was involved in a Good News Club through Child Evangelism Fellowship when I was a child. It was a wonderful place of encouragement and security for me. When I found out that there was a need for a teacher in a Good News Club near my home I got involved as a volunteer and enjoyed every aspect of it. I especially enjoyed sharing the love of Jesus with the children and being able to pray with them. As a school teacher for 19 years, I have found the transition to Director both challenging and rewarding. I am passionate about the children, and that our volunteers are educated and equipped to help impact the children for the better.

Management Comments by Organization At this time we are looking to grow our staff and have 2 paid employees. It is always a challenge to meet the needs of volunteers and make sure each person is well equipped to maintain consistency in each of our clubs. Since the board members are such an important part of our management, they are a great source of encouragement and guidance as different situations arise. The success of our organization is enhanced because of good management. The fact that we are mostly ran by volunteers and continue to grow is an example of a great organization. Having a huge base of volunteers gives us a greater opportunity for more clubs in the community. Making sure that our management is consistent and supportive makes a successful and growing not for profit organization.

Governance Comments by Organization Our organization is a chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc. which sets our policies and continuous monitoring of proper implementation. We have a USA Manual which is updated yearly that holds all guidelines on how to govern our chapter and to balance power between acting committee members and paid staff. The biggest challenge for our chapter is to keep abreast of all policies and to instill them when one committee member leaves and another takes his/her place. As situations arise it is very helpful to be a part of a large organization that has been in existance since 1937. Many of the challenges that arise are addressed in the USA Manual. If the committee or director comes to some type of impass we do have headquarters that can help beyond the manual.
