Needs Statement

2.) New flooring for our playground. This will cost us roughly $25,000.
3.) Shade for the children's playground. This is roughly $50,000.
Background Statement
St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School began in 1959 and we continue to prepare children to be strong witnesses of their faith through worship, service, and integration of Gospel values. Short Term Success

Short-Term program success will be guided by formative assessment. These assessments can be but are not limited to, teacher observation, classroom tests, projects created, presentations, and experiments.

Long Term Success

Our long-term success will be tracked by analyzing our standardized test scores. The goal is to raise scores from year to year, especially in math and science. Any increase shows progress and accomplishment.

Program Success Monitoring

We will monitor the program by looking at classroom test scores, projects, and observation of the students. Teachers will meet on a regular basis to discuss the program and adjust any weaknesses in the program and share success and ideas. The principal will be monitoring unit and lesson plans along with attending teacher meetings.

Program Success Examples

The students will be showing off what they have learned at our "Night at the Museum" where every room has a theme, and all parents and members of the community are invited to observe the students at work. The projects can be digital, written, or designed out of materials, the students then explain what they have created with the community attending the event.

Students are also able to explain why they are studying the current unit and how it effects the world around them.

Experience
Ms. Tonya Peters is the  Principal at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School. Ms. Peters is coming to St. Charles after eight years in the Diocese of St. Petersburg where she served as a teacher, middle school volleyball coach, athletic director, and the Home and School Liaison at Pope John Paul Catholic School in Lecanto, Florida. Ms. Peters furthered her education by receiving a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Barry University. Upon graduation she was privileged to participate in a two-year administration training model titled, “One Principal, Two Assistant Principals, Two Schools." Ms. Peters was the assistant principal for Pope John Paul for one year and then assistant principal for both Pope John Paul and Notre Dame schools the next year. After the training model ended she served as the assistant principal for academics for two years at St. Petersburg Catholic High School in St. Petersburg. Ms. Peters was born and raised in Connecticut before moving to Florida nine years ago. She attended Bryant University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. After graduation, she jumped into the retail business as a store manager of a large retail store. She realized quickly that she missed being around children and decided to blend her business background with her love for children by purchasing and operating her own Early Childhood/ Day Care Center. This center cared for children ages six weeks to thirteen years old along with hosting both three and four year old prekindergarten programs. Ms. Peters holds a Professional Educator’s Certificate in Educational Leadership - All Levels and Middle School Integrated Curriculum grades 5 to 9. Ms. Peters has four children, a son and daughter-in-law, one granddaughter, and five dogs! The youngest daughter is a senior at Johnson and Wales University in Miami. "Be the change you want to see in the world," is a quote from Gandhi that Ms. Peters tries to live by. Believing that everyone can make a positive difference even if it is one small step at a time. Ms. Peters is truly committed to Catholic Education as she believes that each child is a special gift from God and should be nurtured academically, socially, and spiritually. She is looking forward to being a part both the St. Charles Borromeo School and Church communities.
