Impact Statement

Incarnation Catholic School participated in the Giving Challenge and raised almost $72,000 (including matches). The school continued fundraising including a Gala attended by parents, alumni, community leaders, and members of the Church of the Incarnation Parish. A successful golf tournament chaired by a parent was conducted in April with proceeds benefiting technology updates at the school.  To build school/community/parish relationships, five fish fry's were held during Lent. Other activities were sponsored by the Parent Association for families.  This past year we secured the school property with fencing, removed and replaced age-appropriate playground equipment.

A fully-accredited member of the Florida Catholic Conference, Incarnation Catholic School exceeds State of Florida Sunshine Standards of educational achievement, and student results in the Iowa Test of Basic Skills showed that Incarnation Catholic School ranked among the highest in the nation.

During the 2017-2018 school year, the teachers will continue to focus on STREAM with an emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach to integrating Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.  Field trips, classroom activities, and outdoor learning provide students with ample opportunities to explore these subjects.

Incarnation Catholic School was recognized at a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School in 2008.
Needs Statement
1.  Financial Assistance:  ICS enrolls families who desire a faith-based education for their children. Many of our students come from low-income families or are in need of tuition assistance.  Your support of this program directly impacts the future of these students and the future of the Sarasota area.

 2.  Security Upgrades: ICS is a school that was built in the 1960's with an open campus atmosphere.  Schools today need more security to provide for the safety of students.  It is anticipated that the current security cameras will be replaced with high-resolution cameras during the 2017-2018 school year.

The second phase of the security improvements is to provide a single point of entry (SPOE).  This will include restructuring the school office so there is only one main point of entrance to the school. The estimated cost for the second phase is $30,000.

3. Facility Improvements:  As with any older facility, there is a constant challenge of maintaining and updating both interior and exterior spaces.

4. Technology Upgrades:  While progress has been made with providing up-to-date technology for teachers and students, the need remains to update the infrastructure and wireless capabilities.

Background Statement

The Incarnation Catholic School opened its doors for the first time in 1961.  Plans were made, money was raised, teachers and staff were hired, and a new school building welcomed 121 students.

Beginning with grades one through four, by 1965 there were eight grades and 269 pupils. In the years that followed, Incarnation Catholic School continued to grow and flourish. As it did, more teachers were added and the curriculum became more diverse and varied.

After an extensive fundraising campaign, a major expansion was begun and completed, including a new building, in 1993. This expansion included the addition of a computer lab, an art studio, and new administrative offices.

In 2008, Incarnation Catholic School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education, the first Catholic school in Sarasota to attain that distinction.
