Impact Statement

Since 2006, GuitarSarasota has presented world-class classical guitarists to Sarasota audiences in an international concert series. Every year the number of people attending our concerts has increased. We strive to make our international concert series events accessible and affordable to our growing community audience.

Over the years, our international concert series has featured outstanding artists from around the globe, some among the most distinguished teachers of the classical guitar.  GuitarSarasota sponsors local and regional guitar students to take master classes with world class performers and instructors as part of the education element of our mission.

Many classical guitar students from schools like Booker High School in Sarasota, Southeast High School in Bradenton, State College of Florida, Hillsborough Community College, Stetson University, Florida Gulf Coast University and Miami University were able to attend these master classes – free of charge thanks to sponsorships by GuitarSarasota.

GuitarSarasota also sponsors a Recital & Lecture Series featuring six events. Local and regional musicians perform a 45-minute concert, followed by an artist lecture and/or question and answer session. This series is free and open to the public and is aimed at increasing awareness and education, community-wide, of the beauty of classical guitar music.

In 2017 GuitarSarasota launched an outreach program whose goal is to deliver free musical performances to senior citizens residing in public funded assisted-living facilities in Sarasota who cannot attend our concert series due to infirmity or advancing age.  GuitarSarasota believes that this outreach program will produce a number of program benefits including the following:

a) The lives of those who participate in the outreach programs, as audience members or as performers, are enriched.

b) Senior citizens living in assisted-living facilities who are unable to attend live musical concert events due to health, physical or other limitations are given the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the classical guitar and discover the thrill and value of live performances within the comfort of the assisted-living facility.

Needs Statement
GuitarSarasota's Recital & Lecture Series, held six times a year includes a 45 minutes musical performance/lecture and small reception following the event for which we are seeking a sponsor. Sponsorship of this series for one season is $4000-$5000.

GuitarSarasota's outreach program delivering musical performances to senior citizens living in public funded assisted-living facilities is seeking a sponsorship of $5000 per year.
Background Statement
GuitarSarasota has been in existence since January 2006. Our inaugural concert on February 18, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sarasota, Florida was attended by about 80 people. In the 11 years GuitarSarasota has been in existence, we have enjoyed very positive results and audience participation has grown steadily each year.

Our 2012 and 2013 Seasons were "sold out" seasons, and we even had two concerts that were pre-concert "sold out".  In our 2015 season, GuitarSarasota moved to a slightly larger location, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota, to accommodate a growing audience base. We continue to experience strong attendance at our concert series with 3 of 4 of our 2016 Season concerts "sold out".

We have and will continue to provide master class settings to students of the classical guitar in our community.

GuitarSarasota is a focused non-profit organization and our members and subscribers are very loyal and attentive. Part of our mission is to make sure we give back to the community and educate through concerts, lectures and masterclasses.

Statement from the Board Chair/Board President

GuitarSarasota was founded in 2006 to bring the artistry of the classical guitar to the Sarasota community. Since its inception, interest in the classical guitar and its repertoire in the Sarasota community has steadily grown from early audiences of 80 to sold out concerts of 300 attendees.

The Board of Guitar Sarasota is dedicated to bring the artistry of the guitar to the Sarasota community through our international concert series which showcases world renown artists. To ensure that all members of our community can experience the excitement and beauty of this instrument, Guitar Sarasota provides monthly free concerts open to the entire community, and for those who cannot attend due to infirmity or advancing age, free monthly concerts are provided to public funded assisted-living facilities.
