Impact Statement
Sarasota Pride made a decision to create a new path for itself in 2010. We changed our logo to mark a visible difference. We moved our Pride Fest event into the October when the weather is much more palatable to help attendance grow. We took the event to Sarasota's Main Street to make the celebration inviting for the entire community and not just the Lesbian,Gay,Bisexual or Transgendered groups. We also made the event totally free.
Since these changes have been made, we have gown the event from the 2000 attendees in 2010 to 6500 attendees in 2014. We also have grown the sponsor and vendor participation.
Along with this revitalization of the organization, we have created partnerships with Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project, the Booker High School Renaissance Program and the North Port True Colors Gay/Straight Alliance. We continue to forge partnerships with Lesbian,Gay,Bisexual and Transgendered organizations to strengthen our presence and commitment to our community.
Needs Statement
#1- Booker High School Renaissance Rewards Program.
Funds Required $4500.
This is a rewards programs for all students who achieve a 3.0 grade point average. The program is held after each quarter grading period.
Sarasota Pride has been involved with this program since 2012.  Each year we have seen an increase in the number of students added to the program.
This Reward Program offers the students music, food, prizes and giveaways. We have found that the food seems to be the best received of all the parts of the program. Many of these students do not have enough to eat at home and do not get proper nutrition. They not only get something to eat during the program but also get to take food home.
The program sometimes is held during breakfast and also during the last period before they exit school.
This program has a large percentage of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered students. Sarasota Pride has become involved in this program to let those students know they are supported by a local LGBT organization and that we are available for any help or needs they may have.
Background Statement
Sarasota Pride was created in 1989 and the first Pride event was "Pride Family and Friends Day" on the grounds of the Church of the Trinity, Metropolitan Community Church on North Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota. The organization continued to grown and moved the annual Pride evens t to Robarts Arena, Phillippi Mansion and The Van Wezel Performing Arts venue. In 2002, Sarasota Pride incorporated and became a 501c3 non profit organization.
In 2010, the decision was made to recreate the organization by changing the logo to reflect a new vision, move the Pride event into the Fall to cooler weather and make the event available to the entire Sarasota community by moving it to Main Street in the J.D. Hamel Park.
We continue to participate in many community events and keep Sarasota Pride's name out in the forefront.

Statement from the Board Chair/Board President
Long before there was Elton, Rosie, Ellen or Billy Jean, there were Pride organizations created for support, awareness and education all over the country. While Sarasota Pride, Inc. is a mere 25 years old, there are many who have existed since the Stonewall Riots of 1969. For many years those Prides have been the only connections within their communities.
Sarasota Pride, Inc. is the voice of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered community in our area. We receive phone calls and emails daily with questions about where to go for HIV/AIDS help, where to find a counselor to help a family through a crisis,
Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
I have been involved with Sarasota Pride, Inc. sine 2008. I served as treasurer during 2008-2009. I took over as Chairman in 2010 with an all new and very supporting Board of Directors. I felt it was time for Sarasota Pride to become part of the community by moving Pride Fest to Main street, creating a new BRAND with an iconic new logo of the Ringling Bridge in rainbow colors and becoming involved with many organizations in Sarasota outside the LGBT organizations.
I am very proud of where Sarasota Pride has come since the first small Friends & Family Pride was held in 1989 on the grounds of the Church of the Trinity, MCC, the first LGBT church in Sarasota County. Our festival continues to grow each year as the community both straight and gay join for a great day of celebration.
The Community Flag Program is to create a sense of community among the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and straight allies by participating in the building of this flag.
This flag will be 100' long and will display the corporate sponsors' names and logos.
Once sponsorship is secured and the flag is made, individuals and other organizations will be able to secure a 6' x 10' flag section which will be branded with their name request.

Long Term Success The long term success of the Community Flag Programs will be the continued participation and growth of the flag. The flag will continue to be a community project which anyone can participate continuing to create a sense of belonging to this community.
Program Success Monitoring The announcement of this program has generated a large amount of interest and numerous requests.
Program Success Examples Key West Pride made the original 3 mile flag and cut it into 3 mile sections and gave them to three Pride groups and each of those organizations use their flag in a parade or march each year. It is a great community participation event as it takes 1000 people to handle the flag.
Sarasota Pride has partnered with the Booker High School Renaissance Reward Program. This program was created to support and motivate Booker High School students to excel in the classroom and in the community. Many of these students are also involved in the Gay Straight Alliance at Booker.
The Renaissance Program requires a 3.0 or higher GPA. This program includes a REWARD celebration at the end of each quarter of the school year. Sarasota Pride supports this program with funds to purchase food and prizes for the celebration day. We also create interactive games and challenges for the students to win donated prizes.
This program has proven to motivate students to excel in the classroom and through our partnership, these students volunteer within our organization for outreach events in the community.

Short Term Success The Booker High School Renaissance Reward Program continues to add students each quarter since Sarasota Pride's involvement has started.
Long Term Success The long-term success of the Booker High School Renaissance Reward Program is to continue to motivate students to excel in the classroom. We also continue to support the students involvement in their local community and promote diversity and tolerance.
Program Success Monitoring The Booker High School Renaissance Reward Program is all about increasing the number of students who qualify with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Each grade quarter we have print out of all the students GPA's and those numbers continue to increase.
Program Success Examples
When Sarasota Pride first became involved with the Booker High School Renaissance Reward Program we had some 350 students involved in our first celebration. The third grading quarter ended March 31, 2015 and we will have 525 students attending the Rewards celebration.
Each grade quarter we continue to add more students to the Renaissance Reward Program which makes the success of this program obvious.
Program Comments by Organization
Sarasota Pride has partnered withe The Booker High School Renaissance Reward Program for three years. We have seen an increase in students achieving higher grade point averages. Many of these students are members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered community and our organization's support of this program fits perfectly with our continued mission to offer assistance and mentoring to these students.
The Unity March over the John Ringling Bridge in 2010 and 2011 drew such great support and many have requested for Sarasota Pride to repeat this event again. I feel like the enthusiasm and support that these events attracted, the thought of having our own flag to use anytime any Gay,  Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgendered group or supporting allies wanted to use it would only draw the community closer.

Governance Comments by Organization
Non Profit organizations struggle to maintain qualified and committed board members. We have been fortunate to attain a Board of Directors who have a passion for our mission.
The challenge is to keep those positions filled with like minded people who have a vision for equality and the time to serve those needs.
The most difficult segment to replace is youth. That is our challenge for 2015-2016 is to get younger people involved to carry on the torch. Our involvement with high school Gay Straight Alliances is our best chance to recruit new blood to fill this segment.

Financials Comments
Financial Comments by Organization
Since I became chairman of  Sarasota Pride, Inc. in 2010, we have received enough sponsorships and vendor registrations to fund our Pride Fest event and to pay for our annual costs along with a small profit. That profit is used to fund events for the Booker High School Renaissance Program, the North Port True Colors Gay Straight Alliance and the Suncoast AIDS Threatre Project events.
Sarasota Pride, Inc. also holds 10 dances annually that generate monies for these joint events.
We feel with the small amount of monies we generate does make a difference in our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered community.
