Impact Statement
For over 35 years, Sarasota Sunrise Foundation has been making an impact in our community.  There are three major service projects the membership fundraises for throughout the year that impact local children and families. However we also volunteer at a variety of places where we can reach other people making positive change in their lives.
Our signature project each year is Tree of Joy. Over the past 35 years, nearly $500,000 has been donated back to local students through this initiative. Students are identified by their school counselor's based on family need and circumstances and nominated to participate.  Once nominated, the Tree of Joy program, provides essential clothing and shoes to over 100 kids each December.
Additional service projects include: the fundraising for and distribution of Dictionaries and School Supplies to elementary and middle school aged students in need.
Volunteer projects include: All Faiths Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Adopt a Highway, RAM, and many others.

Statement from the Board Chair/Board President
Service above self is an essential Rotarian belief. Seeing the kids faces light up whether it be because of new clothes, school supplies or a dictionary, that's what service and being a Rotary member is all about. All of our charitable activities continue to be successful because our members are very involved and are hands on selected projects.
Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
The members of Sarasota Sunrise Rotary are very involved in fundraising and delivering services to those in need in the Manasota region.  We are grateful for our lives and are committed to making our community a better place for everyone.

Program Success Examples
The success is measured in more than just the amount of money raised and the number of children provided for. The pure joy of the children who receives this gift, often for the first time in their life, is immeasurable.

Last year a volunteer recounted a story of a young man who claimed to "not need pants." When asked why, he said, "I don't have any, so I must not need them."  After finding him a great looking pair of khaki's and a matching polo shirt, the boy gleamed as he looked at himself in the mirror claiming, "I look good."

The success with that young man was not only with his new pair or pants and shirt, but the newly found confidence he saw in himself that day. Additionally, the volunteer was really touched that she could help this young man find self-esteem and confidence when she was sure he was lacking in both.
