Impact Statement
  1. We  performed three full-length ballets, "Nutcracker", which was  performed at two venues The Sarasota Opera House, and Venice Performing Arts Center.  In April, our students along with professional dancers performed "Snow Queen" a new ballet that has been created especially for our school.  David Goldstein, M.D.  composed all new new music and Vadim Fedotov  created the choreography.  Our season ended with our annual recital in June where parts from "Paquita" will be performed.  This gave our students the opportunity to perform with profession guest dancers.
  2. The school was able to give its students the opportunity to dance on the stage of The Sarasota Opera House and perform with international professional dancers.
  3. We were happy to be able to donate tickets to our 3 performances this year to nursing homes, veterans, children with disabilities, and public schools and we will continue to do this in  the 2016-17 dance year.
Current Year Goals
  1. We will perform two full-length ballets, "Nutcracker', Nov. 27 at Sarasota Opera House, 4 p.m. and Venice Performing Art Center on Dec. 11 at 4 p.m.  with guest artists from National Ballet of Ukraine and Bolshoi Theater. "The Little Mermaid"will be in the Sarasota Opera House on April 2, 2016 with the guest artists from National Ballet of Ukraine. This gives our students the opportunity to perform with professional guest artists.
  2. During this school year, we will have more of our dancers enter in YAGP and World Ballet competitions, This gives them more opportunities to experience performing in various venues.
  3. We plan to increase scholarship opportunities for the gifted children in our community who cannot afford a ballet education by offering free ballet classes, so we may expose every interested child to the the ballet and potentially offer those who are motivated, some scholarships for the year.
  4. We will perform in various art festivals, reaching people from Charlotte, Sarasota, and Manatee Counties.
  5. We will, once again, provide free tickets to our  full-length ballet performances.  Allowing veterans, children, the elderly, and needy families to experience the art of ballet.
Needs Statement
  1. The School of Russian Ballet would like to provide worthy children, who would otherwise be unable to dance, with scholarships.
  2. Thus far, all costumes and props have been made by the artistic directors, with donated fabrics and supplies.  There is a need to have monies in the budget for future performances.
  3. We are also in need of a professional dry ice fog machine since many of our ballets are based on fairy tales and fantasy.  We are also need of a backdrop that can be used in most of our performances.
Background Statement
Artistic Directors, Sergiy Mykhaylov and his wife Darya Fedotova came to the U.S. from the Ukraine 16 years ago.  After impressive careers as professional ballet dancers throughout the world and most recently with the Orlando Ballet and the Sarasota Ballet, they chose to open their own ballet studio in 2010.  The intention was, and still is, to be able to impart the knowledge and skill of Russian Ballet to young people and those in the community.  They are proud to be the only ballet school in the area that teaches the Vaganova Method of Ballet. This method is the one that is the basis for all ballet styles throughout history.  It has produced such world-renowned dancers as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Rudolph Nureyev, Vaslav Nijinsky, Anna Pavlova, to name a few.
Ms. Fedotova's father is a world famous choreographer and Master Teacher, Vadim Fedotov. Mr. Fedotov and his wife, Irina Depler, also a former ballet dancer, founded Russian Academy of Ballet and Russian Ballet of Orlando. Both of these studios have become sister schools with School of Russian Ballet.  This relationship gives students an opportunity to see and dance in more performances and enables them to travel.

Statement from the Board Chair/Board President
The School of Russian Ballet has been able to produce competitive dancers and dancers who have the opportunity to pursue professional ballet careers.
In the four years since its founding the school has given 2 to 3 full-length ballets each year. It is rare that a school is able to produce these types of productions  and it is possible only through the hard work and dedication of the directors and the generous donation of money and time by the parents and board members.
Despite the support from parents, community, and Board of Directors it is still a challenge to find funds to maintain the high level of education provided.  Guest artists and instructors are very important in exposing our students to the best in the profession.  We also are very much in need of gifted students who cannot participate due to financial need. Increasing our ability to provide scholarships is something we greatly need.
Darya Fedotova and Sergiy Mykhaylov demonstrate their love and dedication to ballet and teaching.  They have an amazing energy and enthusiasm that is contagious.  Since the start of their studio over the past 4 years, the children have grown and improved their skills and their parents remain very pleased they are in the care of such gifted and loving teachers. It has been a tremendous pleasure and honor to be involved in such a wonderful school.
Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
Our school is very unique, in that it is one of the few schools on the west coast of Florida that continues in the tradition of Agrippina Vaganova.  Ms Vaganova was the most powerful influence on ballet. She was a soloist and ballerina for the Imperial Soviet Ballet. Upon retiring as a dancer, she wished to share her great knowledge and talent and became a teacher. Her method of teaching is the only one that has a purposeful plan for student dancers. We were fortunate to be trained in this method and want to share it with young people who are serious about dance.  We offer training throughout the year and are able to give our students and their community more access to this very special Ballet Method.  Our passion for ballet gives us the energy and enthusiasm that we bring to our teaching and our performances.
Description School of Russian Ballet offers dance instruction at all levels from ages 3 through adult.  As the student advances in level, so does the number of hours per week he/she takes classes.  For serious students who are looking to a career in ballet there is an advanced level, and private one-on-one lessons offered.  During the summer months the studio has a Summer Intensive and Camp Program, where students take classes for one to two months, with varying amount of hours depending on their level.  They receive instruction for part of the time by visiting guest instructors.  All students have the opportunity to perform on stage in the "Nutcracker"and one other full-length ballet, as well as the end of the year recital.

Program Comments by Organization Our biggest challenges are in getting funding for our three times a year major performances, two full-length ballets, one of which is performed at the Sarasota Opera House and Venice Performing Arts Center and Neel Auditorium.  The expenses include stipends for guest artists, facility rental, programs,  advertisement, costumes and sets.  We also need more funds to offer scholarships to young people who show an interest and talent.

Management Comments by Organization As we continue to grow, we opened a larger space to offer more possibilities for the students.  We were able to provide more time for Private Lessons and offer more Classes and Levels for the other students.  We are faced with the challenge of keeping our enrollment up and finding more scholarships for the gifted students who cannot afford classes.  We are also looking forward to bringing more full-length ballets to the families in our community and guests on the west coast of Florida.  We are looking forward to opening the door for our students to enter the professional ballet companies throughout the world.
Multi-Media Comments by Organization We are very pleased with how far we have come in the use of multi media to share our school with the public.  We realize there is more to learn and we are looking forward to getting more involved in order to attract more students and support.

Financial Comments by Organization The School of Russian Ballet's greatest challenge is to grow our enrollment so that we can continue to provide more programs for the different levels, more private lessons, and the best of productions.  We need to increase our financial status so that we can offer more scholarships and discounts to the talented students.
