Impact Statement

For the past 57 years, Bradenton Christian School has provided Christ-centered education to students in Manatee and Sarasota counties. BCS has graduated over 1450 students who are making an impact in our communities and throughout world.

Bradenton Christian School graduates 100% of its senior class with 95% of its graduates attending colleges and universities across the country.

Three focus areas for this school year are:
1.    Academic Excellence
2.    Spiritual Growth
3.    Technology Advancements

Bradenton Christian School is preparing the hearts and minds of God’s children.

Needs Statement

1.  REJUVENATE CAMPAIGN -   Bradenton Christian School is on a mission to renovate and rejuvenate to create a better environment to educate our students!  The elementary building Rejuvenate Campaign is staged to raise $1.5 million throughout this year and will continue over two phases.  Phase I was completed in summer of 2017 and Phase II is to be completed in summer of 2018.  BCS continues to improve our programs and our campus to keep up with our growing enrollment and the ever-changing world of technology.

2.  Tuition Affordability and Assistance – BCS wants to enroll and educate every Christian family who desires a Christ centered education for their children.  Sometimes tuition becomes a hurdle to families.  To keep tuition affordable and help families is top priority for BCS. Donate to our BCS Financial Aid Fund or to our  BCS Foundation and you could help a variety of students and families.

3.  Technology – BCS has a continual need for teacher laptops, student chrome books, and projection units for the classroom.  Any gift amount could play a part in technology enhancements to build tomorrow's future leaders.

4.  Transportation - Mini Bus -  As we continue to grow, BCS must provide safe and efficient transportation for our children to and from school and extra curricular events.  One mini bus cost approximately $60K.
Background Statement

Bradenton Christian School was founded in 1960 by Christian parents who were concerned for their children’s education. They acted upon the belief that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. The very heart of Christian school education at BCS is the Bible which is at the center of our school’s curriculum. It requires the student and the teacher to evaluate all they see in the world through the eyes of God as revealed in the scriptures.

The purpose of Bradenton Christian School is to present to our children, the truth about God, about life, our world, and everything in it and to present the word of God as the authoritative source upon which to build a life that has purpose and meaning. Our vision statement is “that students may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3

The mission of Bradenton Christian School is to provide quality education rooted in God’s Word, and to prepare the hearts and minds of God’s children in partnership with the Christian community for service in God’s world.

Statement from the Board Chair/Board President

Bradenton Christian School has been dedicated to providing a quality, Christ centered education to the children of our community for over fifty-seven years.  Since both myself and my wife are BCS alumni, and we have two children that have graduated and one currently attending BCS,  I  can say that I am a first-hand witness to the fruit of this effort which is evident in the lives of the children who currently attend the school and in the lives of those who have graduated.

Bradenton Christian School is facing the challenge of rapid growth throughout many facets of student life and our campus. Currently, we are in the process of adding a state-of-the-art STEM Middle School Building with 9 classrooms and 4 offices. We are shifting many classrooms to accommodate more students in several grade levels and hiring numerous top-talent teachers as our elementary and secondary enrollment continues to grow. It is an incredible blessing to experience so many classes being near capacity and solving how to accommodate the growth to allow more covenantal children to be educated; it is the type of challenge we welcome.

As a board, one of our primary objectives is to maintain affordability for our families. We believe that the option of an education with a Christian World View is so important that we want it to be available to every family regardless of their ability to afford tuition. Fortunately, BCS is a healthy school and has been blest in that we have been able to hold increases in tuition at only 2% increase per year over the last 5 years, with full classes helping us to operate more efficiently while allowing us to provide more services, such as enrichment classes, but at the same time keeping tuition down. However, in order to keep tuition as affordable as possible, we are very much dependent on donors to supplement the school budget so that we can continue to provide additional aid for those who need it most.

As our enrollment grows, so does our need. They really go hand in hand. As we continue to see the growth, we continue to see the challenges. We know as a board that we have to make sure we keep our strategic goals and priorities in line with the mission of our school. This requires that we continue to teach from a Christ centered world view, hire the best teachers while advancing our current teachers, and continue to raise external funds to keep tuition affordable for everyone, allowing us the ability to continue to prepare the hearts and minds of as many of the children that have been entrusted to our care for a short time.

Jan Braam, BCS Board President

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director

Psalm 78:4 states "we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
his power, and the wonders he has done."
Bradenton Christian School has been faithfully following this command and preparing the hearts and minds of God's children in Manatee County for the past 57 years. Our graduates are blessing their families, communities, churches, and our world with the Christian perspective and worldview nurtured here in faithful partnership with Christian families and area churches. Our students are blessed with talented, dedicated, state certified teachers who take the time to get to know, care for, and pray with each student. These Christian teachers teach the truth about God and His creation in each and every course.

Our school holds state, regional, and national accreditation and our graduates head off to prestigious colleges and universities each year fully prepared for the demands of higher education. In addition to academic excellence, our athletes, musicians and artists have excelled with state championships, college scholarships, and recognition including trophies and awards at the state and national level.

In the Cubby Buddy program, our kindergarten students catch the vision right away as they are paired with a high school senior for nurturing activities throughout the year. The seniors serve as a role model/mentor to their young "cubby buddies". Elementary students receive instruction in art, music, PE, computer, Spanish, and band/strings as part of a challenging and complementary curriculum.

Our middle school features a college prepartory curriculum balanced with the individual care and attention each teacher gives to each student. There is great opportunity for students to spread their wings and get involved. Students with an interest and an aptitude have a great shot at making the team, joining the club, and serving the community.

High school affords students an opportunity for dual enrollment, AP and honors courses, National and Spanish Honors Societies, Student Council, Chapel Committee, mission and service trips and so much more. Academically driven students can graduate with as much as a semester or more of college credits and typically our graduates are offered scholarships that total millions.

Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". Prayerfully consider how an investment in to Christian education could impact a child, a family and the community at large.

Governance Comments by Organization Bradenton Christian serves a diverse student population. This is true not only in terms of parent and student church background, but also in student academic ability. BCS is blessed to provide many advanced courses for our high school and middle school students, including AP and Honors courses. On the other end of the spectrum we also have the opportunity to provide educational assistance to students who have learning differences. This program is offered for every grade level, kindergarten through 12th grade. As enrollment grows and new students are accepted, we are seeing the need to provide more academic assistance for more students.

One of our goals is to provide an Enrichment Program for students with special academic needs, both gifted and resource. The challenge we have is to afford this program which needs additional personnel, and technology, as well as facilities needed to properly meet the needs of all students who qualify for additional academic help. This program would enable our students to receive more personal attention in this pull-out program.
