Statement from the Board Chair/Board President
I was honored to be asked to join the Board of Trustees for Ave Maria University Preparatory School many years ago. I had worked with Sister Gilchrist off and on since the early 1990s. She helped me gain a much better understanding of the special emotional needs of children with learning differences and the importance of addressing their special needs in treatment. I have always been impressed with her continual dedication to helping each child receive the help they needed, through her teaching, supervising,  educating, and advocacy. These efforts have paid off time and time again in improving the lives of many children with special needs.

When Sister invited me to join the board, in spite of my being very busy, I did not hesitate to say yes. I very much wanted to participate in the work she was doing. Later on, I was asked to take on the role of President of the Board, which I was pleased to do. Ave Maria University Preparatory School has gone through many changes through the years but the fundamental mission has remained the same. My hope is that our school will continue to provide for the needs of our special needs children well into the future.
