The mission of the Sarasota Area Sports Alliance, Inc., a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, is to promote awareness and development of sports and athletes in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. This mission is primarily achieved through hosting community outreach events, providing scholarships to student-athletes, and connecting donors with recipients.

Impact Statement

Needs Statement
Annual Scholarship Funding, $20,000 ($1,000 new scholarship / $500 Renewals)
Annual Support to provide grants/assistance to Local Sports Organizations and Local Events ($5,000 - $10,000)
Volunteers to actively work on SASA's committees (Programs, Sponsorship & Fundraising, Marketing, Finance & Governance, and Volunteer and Membership) - special need for those with Marketing and Fundraising backgrounds.

Founded in 2001, the Sarasota Area Sports Alliance (SASA) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide community outreach and awareness of sports programs and events in the Sarasota area, including offering college scholarships to qualified high school student-athletes.  SASA works closely with community leaders, government agencies and local businesses to assist in building awareness of Sarasota as a community committed to furthering sports programs both locally and regionally.

Statement from the Board Chair/Board President
Whether it be providing college scholarships or playing a critical role in supporting sports related initiatives, the Sarasota Area Sports Alliance (SASA) continues to have a large impact on our community.  SASA's involvement in youth and amateur sports, along with assisting in sports tourism and sports marketing, is invaluable to not only the sporting community but the local community.

Description
The SASA Scholarship Program provides college scholarships to high school student-athletes that demonstrate high academic standards, athletic participation, leadership, community service and have financial need. We believe that the “life skills” learned by students via participation in sports are essential to their future success. SASA scholarships allow these skills to be further developed by a college education and helps to ensure the future success of our grantees.

Description
These events are presented throughout the year to build community awareness of how various sports organizations are positively impacting our community.  Getting current sporting information from an organization, networking within the sports and business community, as well as sharing ideas on how to positively impact our youth through sports are just some of the results that stem from these events.
