The Giving Partner provides a way for nonprofits to share the results they are achieving, in addition to information about their financials, governance, management, and needs.
Foundations and The Giving Partner
The Community Foundation of Sarasota County oversees The Giving Partner website and works in partnership with nonprofits creating and updating profiles.
Foundations including the Community Foundation require nonprofit profiles for competitive grant making and other opportunities to encourage transparency and efficiencies in their work.
Using data collected in The Giving Partner, foundations can understand local nonprofit trends from strategic planning to board diversity.
The original funders of The Giving Partner are the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, The Patterson Foundation, Manatee Community Foundation and Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
Donors and The Giving Partner
Donors use The Giving Partner to understand their local choices for giving.
Because nonprofits are required to answer the same questions in their profile, The Giving Partner allows donors to more easily understand how organizations are alike and different.

Nonprofits are encouraged not only to develop in-depth profiles but to use The Giving Partner to understand more about others working in the field.
Creating a Profile is a Process
Creating a profile in The Giving Partner does require time and effort. We typically start the process with an orientation at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County for nonprofit leadership to understand more about the purpose of the tool, how foundations and donors use the tool, and how to complete the profile itself.

Nonprofits serving Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte or Desoto counties, Florida can create a profile in The Giving Partner.
Organizations should have a 501(c)(3) letter of determination from the IRS, at least three board members as required by the State of Florida, and a state charitable solicitations permit (or exemption) from the Florida Department of Agriculture.
The Giving Challenge
The Giving Challenge is often confused with the Giving Partner.
The Giving Partner is a year-round tool donors and funders use to make informed decisions about giving.
The Giving Challenge is an online giving event open to nonprofits with complete and updated profiles in The Giving Partner.
Over the last three years, local nonprofits have raised more than $8 million in the Giving Challenge.
2015 Giving Challenge
The 2015 Giving Challenge will take place Tuesday, September 1 at noon through Wednesday, September 2 at noon.
